QUESTION:Does a Christian come out for altar call at all times when he or she stumbles or sin against God? As humans are not perfect, once a while we stumble or fall short of God's standard.
ANSWER:Jesus Christ sacrifice on Calvary was a once and for all times sacrifice. The scriptures tell us when we get saved we stop being habitual sinners. We are now habitual righteous and holy living persons. However, if and when we do miss it the response is not to hide it away, or deceive ourselves. The response is to repent of it and ask forgiveness. That shortcoming does not take away our salvation, or new nature.
The mere fact that we are conscious of the misdeed speaks volume of the new nature in us. It is like a sheep falling into the dung. It does not roll around in it, like a pig will. It immediately gets itself out, and continually shakes its body in attempt to get the dung off. So also the scriptures tell us in 1 John 1:8-10 (MSG),
“If we claim that we’re free of sin, we’re only fooling ourselves. A claim like that is errant nonsense. On the other hand, if we admit our sins—make a clean breast of them—he won’t let us down; he’ll be true to himself. He’ll forgive our sins and purge us of all wrongdoing. If we claim that we’ve never sinned, we out-and-out contradict God—make a liar out of him. A claim like that only shows off our ignorance of God.”You don’t need to wait for an altar call to get back in fellowship with your father. You are always welcome back home. He’s left the 99 who have done no wrong in the safety of the house, and He is longing to have you back. A simple misdeed does not stop you being His child. No misdeed can separate you from His love, if only you’ll come back home.
